We are thrilled to announce that Lucy Nicholson, owner of and illustrator behind Lucy Maggie Designs, has been shortlisted for ‘Business Person of the Year’ in the Liverpool Echo Regional Business Awards!
The Echo Regional Business Awards have been running for 25 years, honouring some of the biggest names in the Liverpool business scene. We are thrilled to have Lucy be named a finalist. The award nomination recognises her achievements to date and all the work she has done to support local talent. The finalists are due to be announced on Thursday, May 26, at the Rum Warehouse, Titanic Hotel, Liverpool at the Regional Business Awards dinner.
“I am over the moon to have been shortlisted for ‘Business Person of the Year’ in the Echo Regional Business Awards. As someone who has poured her heart and soul into growing her business over the past few years, it really means a lot to me to have been nominated, especially by such a prominent and well-known company in the area. The exposure that this nomination will bring to the business is invaluable, as improving our community presence in the Liverpool area is one of our main objectives for 2022. Working with other local businesses, as well as other artistic individuals, is something we’re really keen to expand on this year, and we’re hopeful that this award will help increase the awareness of Lucy Maggie Designs in the region.”
Over the last few years, Lucy’s dedication and drive have seen her business grow. Lucy has managed to take her passion for illustration and desire to bring happiness and laughter to others to create a thriving small business that not only supplies fun, light-hearted products, but has created – and continues to create – jobs for local people, including aspiring illustrators who have a similar dream to herself. Due to the successes of Lucy Maggie Designs, Lucy has fostered the opportunity to share her knowledge and expertise with the local community by hiring recent university graduates, as well as several employees through the Government-run Kickstart Scheme in a variety of positions including illustration, design and marketing and administration. Her desire to support young talent in the Liverpool area is a testament to her character and ambition to support members of the Merseyside community in times of hardship.
Lucy continues to work with aspiring designers through her secondary publishing brand, Sunshine Llama, which supports up-and-coming artists looking to break into the greeting card, stationery and gifting sectors. The sibling publishing brand offers young artists a platform to see their illustrations pitched to some of the market’s most prominent buyers.
Lucy’s drive, dedication, and passion to grow her business and support up-and-coming talent is the main reason she has been nominated for this award. We can’t wait for the awards and are thrilled Lucy has been considered for “Business Person of the Year”
