What is your favourite card you’ve designed for Sunshine Llama, and why?

I think my favourite is the ‘May all your birthday wishes come true’ design. It’s super fun and a clear reflection of my playful and colourful style; and of course I had to sneak some plants in the design too!

Can you tell us a little bit more about your design process? What do you enjoy most about the design process?

I firstly start off a design in my sketchbook- coming up with ideas and layout. I then use my ipad for the refined card designs as it’s super easy to play about with lots of colour schemes and layouts. For me, I enjoy the beginning and end process the most. Thinking of ideas is so exciting- you never know what way a design will turn out and then at the end seeing the finished design is very rewarding!

How did you get into illustration/design?

I have always been a very creative person from an early age and chose to study Graphic Design and Illustration at The Belfast School of Art. At university I have really fell in love with the process of drawing and creating illustrations. I graduate this year- so I’m really just at the beginning of my illustration career which is exciting but also slightly terrifying!!

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in the world around us, the everyday life: I take my sketchbook with me everywhere I go and jot down ideas and thoughts- from visiting museums to sitting in a coffee shop people watching. My favourite things to do to find inspiration is visiting exhibitions, charity shops and antique shops! I’m also very fond of travelling and visiting new places!

Who is your favourite designer/artist/creative person?

My favourite artist of all time is David Hockney- his work is just so inspiring in so many ways. I am obsessed with his vibrant colour palettes and compositions of his artwork.

Do you have any top tips for aspiring designers?

Find your own interests and passions for drawing. Bring your sketchbook everywhere! Visit museums, read books and go out into the world- be true to yourself and create art that brings you joy! ~This will make you stand out!

Tell us a fun fact about yourself 🙂

I’ve been thinking about this one for a while now- soooo all I can think of is: My favourite food is Hawaiian pizza (unpopular opinion) but I don’t actually like pineapple on it’s own which I guess is kinda weird? 

What is your favourite film?

The Grand Budapest Hotel! Why? 1. My favourite colour is pink and 2. every film Wes Anderson has created is amazing!!
