Lucy Spence of Lucy Maggie Designs, a greeting card company based in Liverpool, UK, has been named in the 2018 Thirty Under 30 Stationery Matters awards. The group, revealed by Stationery Matters’ editor and one of the judges Julia Faiers, shows off the best of under thirties talent from across the UK and demonstrates that there is certainly no shortage of young people with the motivation and talent to drive the stationery industry forward.
In order to be considered for the awards, entrants were asked to demonstrate their passion for their business and products on offer, as well as show innovation, creativity and commitment to their role. It was then down to the judges to select just 30 young people from across the industry who truly embodied the spirit of the awards, of which Lucy was one.
“Lucy has shown some impressive sales (13,000 Valentine’s Day sales!), as well as striking some notable successes with Oliver Bonas and Joy.” – Dominic Irons, director of the Bureau Direct
The final lists details how Lucy began her business selling her own-designed cards through online sales platforms such as Etsy and Thortful, but it was the attendance at her first trade show – PG Live London – that was the catalyst to her business success, ultimately leading her to being announced as a Finalist in The Henries, 2018.
Dominic Irons, director of the Bureau Direct, an award-winning online stationery retailer and one of the judges at the awards, said: “Lucy has shown some impressive sales (13,000 Valentine’s Day sales!), as well as striking some notable successes with Oliver Bonas as Joy.”
Julia Faiers continued: “Lucy has a full-time marketing job yet finds the time to create all her own designs. It won’t be long before she can pack in the day ob ad devote all her time to her first love – card design.
